Psalm 56:3
When I Am Afraid . . . Psalm 56:3
There are days when I don't need an explanation.
Quite honestly?
Those days, there is NO explanation.
I don't need somebody to tell me everything is going to be okay.
I’m sorry, but those platitudes no longer serve my soul.
I know “it will all come out in the wash” –
I know “we don’t sweat the small stuff, and it’s all small stuff”.
(Thank you very much, Ricky Lee! 😉)
What I do need is something solid enough to hold onto while I catch my breath.
And for me?
That is the Word – my old, worn out, marked-up Bible.
Sometimes it means opening the pages and letting my eyes wander.
Sometimes it is just to sit still, hold my Bible tight, and breathe.
Sometimes it is remembering Promises learned through living.
These are some of the promises that hold my heart, my mind, my soul –
That hold ME.
Words I have read before.
Words I will absolutely read again.
Words that don't change the circumstances—
but somehow help me stay standing in the middle of them.
Promises that hold me.
So I can breathe.
Each of these blogs share the Promise that holds me.
As well as a little story of when and how.
I hope if you choose to wander through them,
Hope will find at least a momentary spot in your heart.
I love you. 💕
