The Cottage

Where Hearts are held in Hope & Where Home isn’t so far away.

Why does The Cottage exist?

I am not an expert – unless annoying people is my area of expertise 😉

I do not stand at a whiteboard with plans, proposals, and PowerPoint presentations.

I do not have a lot of answers for the questions

– honestly, I have more questions myself than answers.

I am here as a companion in life, in loss, in grief, in laughter, in tears.

I can share with you in the rooms of this cottage,

and the grounds that surround it,

how I live with my unanswered questions.

The Cottage is a place.

The Cottage exists because every weary traveler deserves a place to rest.

The Cottage holds space for you.

The Cottage is not a therapist’s couch.

The Cottage is not a church service, either.

The Cottage is just that

– a simple cottage, filled with treasures waiting to either be found

. . . or to find you.

No one should need to carry life heaviness alone.

Stories can bring comfort, and a sense of Hope, of healing even.

Listening is often more loving than speaking,

and it is an art that is lost more than not in the busy-ness of life today.

Hope can sit beside sorrow without erasing it,

without overshadowing it.

This may be your place to rest, to remember.

A place to laugh, and/or cry.

A place to breathe,

and a place to gather a bit of strength for the next step.

Subject to the weather of the day,

and the critters that crawl or fly.

No admission required.

No expectations to meet.

The only requirement –

come and sit for a while.

To softly step into The Cottage –

just for a moment, to catch your breath.

To wander through the rooms –

being as nosy as you want to be.

To sit on the side porch -

watch the sunrise and/or sunset.

To walk the grounds -

see what treasures are found in the moments.

Come, peek in.

Come, stay 5 minutes.

Come, settle into the swing until you are ready to talk and share.

Come, pace a while –

often that is where the answers are found.

Come, lean against the railing -

because still standing through it all, well it just hurts.

Find that corner of The Cottage where you are held in hope.

Breathe in Home.
