There is a woman behind The Cottage.

She’s a writer, a widow, a momma, a grannee, a caregiver, a coffee drinker, a keeper of memories,

and—apparently

a wild imaginer who sometimes looks at an ordinary thing and wonders what story might be hiding inside it.

That’s me.

But The Cottage isn’t really about me.

Well… not entirely. 😉

I built The Cottage because I have spent enough years sitting in the quiet to know that sometimes what we need isn’t an answer.

Sometimes we need a place to sit.

A little room to breathe.

Someone willing to say, “I wonder, too.”

So I brought a few things along.

Some stories. Some questions.

Some memories.

A little faith. A lot of coffee.

A few things I’ve learned the hard way.

A whole collection of things I haven’t figured out yet.

There are stories here about loss and love,

ordinary days and extraordinary moments,

books and gardens,

laughter and tears,

faith and doubt,

memories that still make me smile,

and the strange little treasures we almost miss when we’re moving too quickly.

Some of them are mine.

Some will belong to people who wander into The Cottage and decide to leave a story behind.

And some may remind you of something that belongs only to you.

That’s the part I hope for most.

I don’t want you to come here simply to learn about my life.

I want you to find something here that makes you stop for a minute.

Something that makes you remember.

Something that makes you wonder.

Something that makes you laugh when you weren’t expecting to.

Something that gives you permission to breathe.

Maybe you’ll recognize yourself in a story.

Maybe you’ll disagree with me.

Maybe you’ll wander into the Kitchen looking for a recipe

and somehow end up in the Rose Garden remembering someone you loved.

That’s okay.

There are no straight lines on this treasure map.

And there isn’t really a right way to wander around The Cottage.

I’m just the woman who keeps the door open.

The rest of The Cottage belongs to all of us.

So, if you’ve come this far…

Come sit a spell.

There’s coffee. ☕️
